Sunday November 26th Mid Length + Student Short Films Session.

Sebastian has long-anticipated his introduction to Parade Bar's frequently-visiting elderly patron Peggy, who ignites hallucinatory conversation. The pair engage in a series of sequential abstracted statements and opinions, that spark a kaleidoscope of interlacing colours and symbols.

Screening Sunday November 26th at Rydges Sydney Central The Reservoir Cinema from 4:00pm-5:30pm.

"Set in modern day Melbourne, 17-year-old Cleo scrolls through her social media feed. A morning ritual for her, she looks at her body. If only, she had a little less flesh here, or little bit skinnier there.
While at her favourite class, Studio Arts, Cleo finishes her art project when her canvas gets suddenly ruined by James. Cleo leaves school spends the day at home. We peer into her private walls, and find her devouring homemade cupcakes.
With only a week to go until her art project is due, Cleo finds the beauty within the mess of her painting. With the guidance of her older sister Jarah, Cleo is reminded she is beautiful just the way she is. And, she finds acceptance in herself when she looks in the mirror."

After 14-year-old Aaliyah nags her Filo-immigrant parents into buying her an expensive denim jacket, her parents yield in hopes to give her a better life. It isn’t long until the family starts to struggle, leading Aaliyah to witness the heavy burden she has placed upon her family and to act upon her conviction.

"Once a stronghold of the transatlantic slave trade and with a history of Atlantic aquatic surf culture that precedes colonial invasion, Yama is a story of a reclamation and joy. Aiming to tell a story that challenges the representations that many African nations are commonly subjected to in western media, Yama begins in the bustling city of Accra and travels to the wave rich coastline where there are communities driving the budding Ghanaian modern surf scene.

The Fantes are the people who populate the area where female surfers live. Yama is their name for the wooden boats that still cross Ghana's shoreline today. "

Sānsūr is a creative documentary about six women who bravely defied the written and unwritten boundaries to freedom of expression in Iran and face the consequences of not conforming to censorship. Through open testimonies with an emancipatory charge, an artist, schoolteacher, journalist, athlete, musician and actress share their experiences with lay-offs, harassment, arrests and being forced into exile. Over time they can take off their mask and find openings again to laugh, sing and dance.
